Registration with the College is mandatory for all practicing dental assistants in Alberta, but that registration can also be recognized in many other jurisdictions around the world. CADA allows members to join or return to active practice throughout the year.

Regulated members may also take a leave of absence from practice for any reason of their choice. Members taking maternity leaves, returning to school, travelling, or other similar reasons may use the leave of absence membership as a means of staying connected and as a simple path back to practice and registration.

The College offers support for participation in the mandatory Competence Program through web access to the necessary tools and information, access to suitable learning activities and advertising of upcoming education events.
